OpenTrafficMap is an open project — here is how you can help:

Run a receiver

The most valuable contribution: live data can only be shown where at least one receiver is nearby.

	* Get a receiver via the group order or build one yourself — see

What does the QR Code mean on the back side of the case?

If you scan the QR code with a mobile phone, you will be directed to the “Node Admin page” of this device.

Thank you for wanting to operate a receiver!

Here is some information about the receivers we build.

What's in the box:

Node Registration

To report packets from a receiver to OpenTrafficMap.org, the data must be sent to our MQTT server. The connection string can be found here: /its-g5-receiver-firmware/main/config.c

No username or password is required for the MQTT server.

By default, the node name is the Ethernet MAC address of the ESP32. We are happy to replace it with a friendly name in our database and, on request, we can also display the receiver on the map with GPS coordinates.

C-ITS can only be received over a few hundred meters up to a few kilometers, so receiver placement makes a big difference.
